This painting on cradled hardboard delves into the idea of grounding—both physically and emotionally. The use of organic forms and natural colors reflects the connection to the earth, while the abstract nature of the piece suggests the fluid and layered experience of existing in the physical world. The bold red lines represent moments of disruption or energy that punctuate our otherwise grounded existence, highlighting the dynamic balance between stability and change. The painting was developed through multiple layers of paint, building depth and complexity. The base layers consist of broad, gestural strokes to establish a sense of movement and grounding. Subsequent layers incorporate more precise marks and translucent glazes, creating a sense of light and shadow that mirrors the textures of the natural environment. The composition is intentionally fragmented and abstract, with no clear focal point. This approach reflects the complex and interconnected nature of being earthbound, where elements coexist in balance and tension without a singular hierarchy. Painting won 4th place in international Teravarna Abstract 2025 compettion.

This painting on cradled hardboard is based on several photos I took while staying near Amboseli National Park in Kenya. The orange light of early dawn was as spellbinding as the scenery and I wanted to use abstraction to explore the interplay of color, texture and light. The composition abstracts the landscape, capturing not only the visual characteristics but also the ephemeral mood of sunrise in this iconic African setting. The painting’s color palette transitions from deep greens and blues in the foreground to warm, saturated reds and pinks in the upper registers, reflecting the shift from pre-dawn shadow to the first light of day. By layering textures and abstract forms, I wanted to convey a sense of the terrain’s ruggedness and its simultaneous softness under the early morning light. The use of vibrant, contrasting colors and expressive brushwork embodies the transformative power of dawn, drawing attention to the interplay between land and sky and the merging of natural elements. If you look closely, you may see the image of a giraffe or two. This work speaks to the transient beauty of landscapes and the interplay of time, light, and place. This piece seeks not only to depict a landscape but also to evoke an emotional and sensory memory of Amboseli’s wilderness.

This acrylic painting on cradled birch hardboard captures the dramatic shift from day to night at Angama Amboseli. Inspired by watching the sunset through the glass-walled building, I imagined the day giving way to rich reds and purples of night, wrapping the scene in a wild beauty. Loose, layered brushstrokes create depth and movement, blending flat washes with impasto-style applications. The abstracted figure in the foreground merges with the environment, symbolizing humanity’s connection to nature. Lighter tones near the horizon suggest the last light lingering on the land as night falls. This piece speaks to the powerful stillness of Amboseli—a place where vast landscapes and vivid skies create an atmosphere that feels both grounded and infinite.
