White Dog Green Woods
Aerial
- 20 x 24 in
This painting explores the interaction between land and water through an aerial perspective, examining the relationship between natural and built environments. I wanted to capture the fluidity of water alongside the structural elements that shape the space, reflecting both connection and isolation—echoing aspects of human experience. My technique involves layering transparent and opaque acrylic glazes to create depth and movement, mimicking the reflective and ever-changing surface of water. Broad, gestural brushstrokes contrast with finer, more deliberate marks to suggest the interplay between organic currents and human-made structures. A range of blues and greens blend organically, reinforcing the sense of an evolving landscape. Textural elements, created through palette knife work and dry brush techniques, add further dimension, evoking the tactile qualities of land and water. This painting was awarded an Honorable Mention in Teravarna’s 5th Water Art Competition and contributes to a broader conversation on landscape representation, abstraction, and the dynamic relationship between human presence and natural forces.

Who Shook the Soda
- 10 x 10 in
This acrylic painting on wrapped canvas explores the energy and unpredictability of abstraction. Bold colors, dynamic contrasts, and textured layers combine to create a composition that feels both explosive and balanced, capturing a moment of tension and release. Vivid reds, blues, and whites dominate the piece, their interplay evoking a sense of movement and spontaneity. The textures, built through impasto techniques and expressive brushstrokes, add depth and dimensionality, mirroring the chaotic yet intentional energy of the creative process. This work invites viewers to experience the raw, visceral nature of abstraction—where structure and spontaneity collide, and emotion takes precedence over representation. It is a celebration of color, movement, and the unfiltered expression of a singular moment.

White Dog Green Woods
- 20 x 20 in
This acrylic painting on linen-wrapped canvas reflects the layered terrain of western Pennsylvania, blending abstraction and suggestion to capture the energy of the natural world. Greens and teals dominate the palette, evoking the dense forest, while earthy tones and fragmented white forms hint at sunlight and the fleeting presence of a dog within the landscape. Loose, sweeping brushstrokes contrast with refined, layered applications, creating depth and movement that mirrors the light and shadow of the woods. The piece invites viewers to experience the mood and rhythm of the forest—alive, textured, and constantly shifting—while rooted in a deep sense of place. White Dog Green Woods was named as a Finalist in the Tervarna Nature 2024 International Juried Competition.
